It is said that the French were the first to transplant wild strawberries to gardens at the beginning of the fourteenth century.  There are manuscripts narrating that in 1368 M. Jean Dudoy, the gardener of Charles V, transplanted 1,200 strawberry plants in the gardens of the Louvre Palace in Paris.

It is amazing to find strawberries in a tropical fruit list, but the weather conditions of the Caribbean ensure that Colombian strawberries have a deep red color and a special flavor.

The strawberry is one of the most versatile fruits in modern cooking.  It is excellent in juices, frosties, ice creams and deserts.

Strawberries are used to treat anemia and to strengthen the blood system. The fruit contains vast quantities of vitamin C and iron. It also contains pectin, a fiber that is soluble and helps lower cholesterol.

Strawberries are available as:
• Natural fruit pulp (frozen)
• Powdered fruit
