Pineapple is a native fruit of tropical America.  It is said that Columbus found it in the island of Guadalupe and took it to Europe.  The inhabitants of the island used its juice as a digestive and to cure war wounds.  The pineapple is the fruit of the ‘Anana’ plant and to the indigenous people meant ‘excellent fruit’.

 

The pineapple has a hard skin and has a crown of green serrated leaves.  Its bright yellow flesh will enhance any salad.  Use it as a yellow focal point in any dish. 

 
The pineapple is ideal for juices, desserts and sherbets and helps to digest ‘heavy meals’. 
 
Pineapple contains vitamins C, B1, B2, phosphorous, calcium and fiber. It is a good diuretic and it is anti-inflammatory. Its bromelin content makes the fruit very digestive and it is also very good to keep our skin in good conditions.
